Project Summary
This Ultra-Thin bonded PMA Pavement Preservation project was massive in size with many challenging aspects. It stretched 3.76 miles through East Hartford and Manchester on both I-84 and I-384. This highly congested area challenged us as it boasted 10 travel lanes plus a HOV lane in either direction. There were several complex interchanges throughout the project making Traffic Control and Safety our highest priority. Much care was put in nightly to making sure traffic patterns and traffic personnel were placed and situated correctly in order to create a safe environment for the traveling public and our crews and inspection team. We strived for quality and safety from start to finish. This project included reset and replacement of 261 basin tops, mill and paved marked out patched in a single shift, crack sealed the milled pavement, installed Ultra-Thin Bonded PMA on over 433,000 square yards project wide, and finished by backing up the entire roadway with processed aggregate. From the traffic control, to the schedule, to the means and methods, this project was challenging throughout but our skilled crews handled it with quality and safety at the forefront.
